Question StatCounter

Hi all,

I just had a look at StatCounter Free invisible Web tracker, Hit counter and Web stats, as I wanted to find a way to get a better idea of who was looking at our company's website and how they were getting there. I've added their code to my site, and I'm pretty pleased with how it works. Plus, it's free, and it's produced by an Irish company, so all to the good. Has anybody else here used them, or does anybody have any comments on them...?

Stat Counter is huge in the States. Most Irish people are amazed when they hear that Stat Counter is actually an Irish led operation.

One of the unsung Irish success stories.

I am also amazed that it originates from Ireland
It's very cool tool and even 100 times better than Google Analytics!

I use statcounter for a number of projects I have and its quite possibly the best stat service I have found to date.

The free service can only be described as fantastic. Even after it has counted the 500 pageloads on your website it will still keep record of whats going on with your website.

What I find is the most useful is the stats are in real time and the amount of information you get from it really does help with ow you develop a website.

I found out they were Irish about 2 years ago when I got a reply email from a query where the guy who sent it made a little joke about the weather we were having and how he would get soaked trying to get to the pub... It made me laugh cause only an Irish person could get away with putting something like that into an email to someone he never even met or knew. lol

But yeah, I would definitely recommend statcounter to anyone who has a website. It's very easy to set up on your website. I use both google analytics and statcounter and will check statcounter before google.

I use statcounter and google analyitcs. Statcounter is easier to use and more user friendly. Great for the quick fix of finding where your traffic is coming from.

Google analyitcs is better for an indepth look at your traffic, say at the end of every week or so. Whereas Statcounter only allows you 500 rolling visits tracked. Or you can pay up and get unlimited but I never tried that

I actually find that even tho it says only 500, it will keep tracking for you.

What it seems to do is, as it put a new entry in at the top, it will remove one from the bottom of the list keeping it at 500. But is does seem to keep tracking.

I use both systems myself, and I do go to statcounter first, but google analytics does have it own advantages too.
