Driving along a road an ad comes on the radio (and the person concerned is looking at wedding venues)
"Getting married? Come to the beautiful Summerhill House Hotel in Enniskerry call us now on 012867928 or go to our website www.summerhillhousehotel.com"
Typical ad yes? Comes at you fast! You go looking for pen and paper to write the number down as you drive along? NO ?
Next day you remember the ad and go to the website. You check it out and make up your mind based on what you see YES? You don't check competitors websites at the same time NO?
Listen to the ads on radio/TV this IS a typical situation. Potential customers are being asked to remember long numbers and go to websites (btw only 70% of homes in Ireland have a computer and the OECD figure for broadband per 100 inhabitants is 21.4%)
SO, what did the Summerhill House Hotel do when this was brought to their attention? This is how there ad now is.....
"Getting married? Come to the beautiful Summerhill House Hotel in Enniskerry. Text WEDDING to 51444 standard rate text"
Easily remembered? Yes
When someone does this they get back an acknowledgement which includes the mobile website of the hotel and a person can check it out there and then (and only their website). The BIG plus though is the marketing manager whose responsibility it is to SELL weddings gets an alert to their phone and can immediately call (if they so chose) and talk with the texter and invite them to come and check it out. The power of SELLING as opposed to allowing the person make up their own mind as previously mentioned.
