| Posting Guidelines and Advive on Self Promotion Posts in Business in Ireland and Irish Business Forums |
| An easier to read version of this is available as the Help Forum (Third Forum) at http://www.irishbusinessforums.com/forums. - -Posting Guidelines for Commercial Postings Following on from the general guidelines for posting, here are some pointers (with a small p ! You know yourselves folks - Common Sense !!) as to what is acceptable for commercial type posts on these forums:
The whole idea here is to provide an open and friendly networking facility for small Irish Businesses.
Beginners
My suggestion is that on joining, you open up or start a dedicated thread in the Self Promotion Forum in which you are free to tell us all about and promote your company and services. Tell us your story! Include two or more links in your signature. One should be for your business but the other should be for your own dedicated thread in these forums. Every time you post, your signature links appear in the forums at the end of the post, creating relevant Irish back links to your own site. The more you post the more you are noticed.
Now comes the most important bit! - Tags!
Underneath every thread in the forums is a facility which allows you to add a list of Key words/ phrases from the text of that thread which the search engines just love.
After publishing the first post in your thread, click on "Edit Tags" and enter a list of key words and phrases seperated by commas.
This next bit is important! There is absolutely no point in listing key words or phrases that are not already in the text of the post(s) in that thread!
The first two Tags should always be Business Ireland and Irish Business Forums as these two phrases appear in the title of every page on this website. Their inclusion in your Tag List greatly increases the SEO "relevancy" of your Self Promotion thread and Google loves relevancy.
Use unique descriptive phrases rather than individual words as Tags to narrow down your competition on the search engines. "Limerick Spruce Kitchen Designer" is much much better than using 4 tags "Limerick, Spruce, Kitchen, Designer". The first 4 word Tag narrows down your competition to other "Limerick Spruce Kitchen Designers" whereas the 4 one word Tags put you in competition with all other mentions of Limerick, Spruce, Kitchen, and Designer on the whole internet.
Add in the other Must have Tags "Business Ireland" and "Irish business Forums" and you have a fairly unique and Search Engine friendly combination of synchronised key words and content on a web page. That's how these forums can get you to Top Ten positions in Google in hours!
For an example of a properly created first post by one of our new members who read these instructions, see Greystones Guide - Local Website for Local People
Members of the Irish Business Forums who have written descriptive Self Promotion posts and who's Tags reflect the content of that post often see their post in Top ten positions in Google and other search engines for their chosen Key Words or Tags within 4 to 24 hours of making that post.
See Success Stories on the Irish Business Forums - Business Ireland and Irish Business Forums - Irish Business Forum for some of these success stories.
Every new thread on these forums is Tweeted within about 20 minutes to our 8,000 + Irish Twitter Followers who are spread throughout our wide range of Irish partner Twitter accounts. For this reason, if you wnat your particular message to go out on our Twitter network, open a new thread in the Self Promotion Forums. Second or additional threads in forums are not tweeted but will still be picked up by the search engines and of course the forum readership.
Also remember, that every time you post in the forums, your signature containing a link to your own business becomes a highly effective "Do Follow" relevant backlink for your own website.
The more you post, the more you promote your business in the Search Engines and of course, amongst our readership!
Site Etiquette
Treat posting in another members thread like a visit to their office. It's their space and please respect that. When posting in someone elses thread, listen to their story, offer advice and compare notes. Refer to your own experiences but don't abuse it as a promotional opportunity. That's what your own thread is for. Think... How would I like people contributing to my own dedicated thread to behave?
The more active you are in these forums, the more benefits you will achieve. An active, helpful and friendly poster will attract much positive notice from both search engines and fellow forum members.
It is perfectably acceptable to use your company's web site address as the Home Page URL in your profile signature. Bolded descriptive hyper - links in the form of Irish Business Forums are much more effective than just www.irishbusinessforums.com .
Your postings should be of real interest to Forum members though, and not just thinly veiled efforts to get your company name seen!
Please don't spam other folks Self Promotion threads to try and plug your own company or its products. There is a huge difference between offering friendly advice in your area of expertise in response to a request in the other members thread (Good Posting) and wading in to promote yourself where nobody asked you (Bad Posting).
Trust me..... Good Posting will pay lots of dividends in Self Promotion and new network contacts. Bad Posting will just make you look like an amateur.
We do provide advertising opportunities on the site ! Contact admin @ irishbusinessforums.com for details.
Specific examples of unacceptable commercial posts include:
- Blatant advertising, not related to any ongoing discussion
- Repetitive posting of the same information
- Unsubstantiated claims or wild marketing hype
- Running down competitors products
- Hijacking of threads to promote your self
- Uninvited criticism of other members operations to promote your own services
As Admin, I reserve the absolute right to edit or delete any post or thread that I consider offensive, abusive or other wise outside the spirit and ethos of the forums.
If you are the agent for Bloggs Golfing and the forum are discussing your product, feel free to identify yourself as such and provide relevant info. If you are a travel expert, giving advice on the Forum it is only fair that you be allowed to mention that you own or work for Bloggs Travel or Bloggs Golf or that you write for the Bloggs Times. Common sense folks!
Bear in mind though, that members may praise or criticise your products or services in a public forum ! Again all such comments are expected to be in the spirit of dignity and respect which we expect to be a feature of these forums.
As always, your comments and suggestions for further improvements are welcome at any time.
Kind regards,
Stuart |
